Captained Sailing Charters around Port Aransas, Texas
Six passengers maximum, no more than two of which can be children. No infants, no pets. There are no exceptions to the six passenger rule. This is a US Coast Guard regulation for this type of boat.
You can enjoy a three-hour sail, half day or full day sail, or a multi-day sailing experience, including anchoring overnight or mooring at one of the area marinas. The boat is available 24/7/365 in theory, but mid-week trips might not be available at various times during the year.
During the summer, I typically book up about two weeks out, so try to plan ahead. But if you decide at the last minute that you really need the peace and relaxation of a sailing trip, it never hurts to reach and see if the boat is available.
A deposit of 50% is required to secure your reservation. Deposits are refundable if Captain Aaron decides that it is not safe to sail. In general, deposits are not refundable if it's rainy or calm, but I will try to move you to a different time if possible. For the deposit, I prefer Zelle, but I can also take Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, or personal check.

Full Day Excursion - $750
9 - sunset. We can go offshore (highly dependent on the weather) or sail around one of the bays.

One option is to sail into Corpus Christi, dock at the marina, and have lunch at Landry's or one of the other restaurants nearby.

Or we can drop the anchor in Shamrock Cove and swim or fish. If you want to fish, you must have a license and bring your own equipment and bait, although I have two lightweight poles and a few lures.

The price drops to $600 outside of Daylight Savings Time (early November through early March).

Multi-Day Immersion
Prices start at $1200. Contact Captain Aaron for options and details. We cannot spend the night in Island Moorings marina, but we can sail to one of the other marinas in the area, or if the weather is good, anchor out. It is usually too hot to anchor out in the summer. We have to be connected to shore power in order to run the air conditioner.

I have done many sails into the Corpus Christi marina and spent the night there. Corpus Christi is great because there are many restaurants within walking distance. But there is a galley on the boat if you want to cook your own food.

What To Expect
Sailing charters do not include food or drinks, so please feel free to bring anything you care to consume (as long as it is legal in the state of Texas). Please try to avoid bringing individual plastic water bottles, which are generally incompatible with boating. I always have drinking water on board, which I am glad to share if you bring a cup. I am happy to share my personal sunscreen and insect repellant but there are no guarantees if you are allergic to the products I use.

To reach the boat, park near the boat ramp, which is right next to the porta-potties. You may see signs saying that all vehicles must register at the marina office and pay $10, but those signs do not apply to you. Head toward the boats leaving the gray building (marina office/ship's store) on your left. After you cross the aluminum gangway, look for the boat with the big green strip near the top of the mast.

Begin your excursion with a short cruise up the Mustang Beach Channel from Island Moorings Marina to the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. Both channels are home to many varieties of sea birds and sea creatures. We normally see pelicans, egrets, herons, cormorants, and of course, sea gulls. Other birds appear at different times of the year. As of Spring 2024, there is a pair of ospreys living in the marina. Sometimes they perch on the channel markers on the way out of the marina. Last week we saw an osprey flying off with a fish in its beak.
I don't think I have ever sailed in this area and not seen a dolphin. Dolphins usually will approach the boat and swim along side if we are going fast enough. If not, they get bored and swim away.

Once in the CC Ship Channel, we can head west toward Ingleside or east toward the Harbor Island Intersection. The choice depends on the the wind and tidal currents. In the summer, we normally head east on a three-hour sail and west on longer sails.

If we head east, options include north up the Lydia Ann Channel or out into the Gulf of Mexico. If we head west, options include Redfish Bay, straight to Ingleside and back, or into CC Bay on half day and full day trips.

Sailing offshore is highly dependent on the weather and is not guaranteed. If you want to sail offshore, let me know when you book your trip and I will discuss the appropriate offshore sailing gear to bring. The boat does not have a dodger, so if the winds are over 12 knots or the seas are over two feet, you are going to get wet.
